SRS Food Donation and Collection System (Android)

According to the data provided by Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), one-third of food produced for human consumption is wasted globally, which accounts for almost 1.3 billion tons per year. At the same time, WHO estimates that a 20% of the population face extreme food shortages. The world needs to come up with a solution that can avoid food waste so that it can help to feed the needy. In this project, we have proposed an android-based Food Waste Management system which will connect different eateries (hotels and restaurants etc.) with the welfare organizations. These eateries will add into the application, the information about their excessive food. The welfare organizations will be able to see this information and connect with the relevant eatery to collect the food which is then distributed among the poor communities to battle against starvation & malnutrition. The welfare organizations can also raise a request for food supply from restaurants through this application. Once the request is accepted, the NGOs can collect the food from the restaurants for its distribution. In this way this android-based food waste management system will help restaurants to reduce food waste and will help in feeding the poor and needy people.

Functional and Non Functional Requirements of Food Donation and Collection System (Android):

Functional Requirements :

A functional requirement shows that what the system must do what services the system present to users. It describes a software system or its component. A function is nothing but inputs to the software system, its behavior, and outputs

Functional Requirements of Food Donation and Collection System (Android):

Admin:
1. Register: User can register using personal details. The user can register by either using
Email account or Mobile phone number.
2. Account Verification: After user submits the registration, he/she needs to complete the
verification because it is allowed to log into the system.
3. Login: After successful registration, the user will be able to log into the system.
4. Manage Restaurant/Hotels:
 List restaurant: List all the restaurants available
 Add/Register New Restaurant
5. Manage NGOs:
 View All the NGOs registered into the application.
 Add/Register New NGOs
 Update/Delete the information of registered NGOs.
6. View Food Waste Requests/Offers:
 Admin can view the details of all the offers for the food submitted by the restaurants
and hotels.
 Admin can view the details of all the requests for food submitted by the welfare
organizations.
Restaurant:
1. Register: Any restaurant or hotel can register themselves into the system. During the
registration, the restaurant must fill its complete information such as Name, Address,
Contact No etc.
2. Login: After successful registration, the user will be able to log into the system.
3. Manage Profile:
 View/Update Profile
 Change Password
Post Offers for Food Donation: If any registered restaurant has any food to donate
share, it can post the details about that through the online form. Such a food type,
number of persons for which the food is sufficient etc.
View Food Donation Requests by NGOs: Restaurants can view the requests for the food posted by the NGOs and if they have any excess food to share/donate, it can contact with the NGO through in-application messaging system and/or directly
contacting with the NGO through the cell phone.
View Donation History: Restaurants can view the previous history of their food
donations.
NGOs:
1. Register: NGOs can register themselves into the system. However, there must be a mechanism that makes sure that only government registered NGOs can register and use the system. The system must devise a mechanism to prevent the registration of any fake NGO.
2. Login: User can login in his personal account using the logic details
3. Manage Profile:
 View/Update your profile
 Change Password
4. View Donation Offers:
 View Food donation offers posted by restaurants
5. Add Donation Request:
 NGOs can post the requests for food donation. This request will be received by the
registered restaurants as a push notification.
 The donation request must include the number of the persons for which the food is
requested.
6. Manage Employees:
 Add new employee
 Update employee details
 View employee profile
7. Records:
 View restaurant history
